GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS, THE RECOVERY IS AT THE DOOR

In the previous post I told you about “ Wall Street 2”, the film of newest exit where Stone launches once again a heavy “J’accuse” fulfilling the task (as he has  always done ) of ‘ ‘popularize ‘, and so  make comprehensible, the dynamics of power, be it political or economic.

A film that talks about  the world crisis we all  are experiencing since  September 11th 2001, the day that marked, as I said, the collapse of the economy.

But this time, perhaps, there is really to rejoice. Worldwide recovery could be upon us and the crisis that in recent years has enveloped the entire planet could be overcome at last.

In Italy the situation is already moving: to give me a glimmer of hope were the results published by “ISTAT” in recent days, which has witnessed the increase of 9,5% of industrial production in August compared to July 2009 , and 1.6% compared to July 2010.

This is the best result trend since December 1997. To reinforce my belief, the words spoken  from Washington by the Italian Minister of Economy Mr. Giulio Tremonti :  forecasts, he announced, indicate a further economic recovery in the second half of the year.

But wanting to have a broader perspective, I believe that in the  memory of all of us have remained engraved the words of the ECB President, Mr. Jean-Claude Trichet, who last year had announced a hard 2009 that would culminate in a 2010 that would see the global economic recovery.

Even the Global Financial Stability Report and the World Economic Outlook instils confidence and optimism. According to the annual reports of International Monetary Fund, in fact, the recovery has begun, but the future task will be to maintain it.

Besides, also the IMF says the global economy returned to grow and financial conditions have clearly improved. But it will take a certain period of time for the employment prospects to improve significantly.

The IMF warns that the rising of unemployment will be a major challenge for many advanced economies.

The predictions are for the U.S. on a 9.3% average this year and 10.1% in 2010 for the euro area, the IMF estimated an  unemployment to 9.9% this year and 11, 7% in 2010.

Moreover , in Italy  in 2010 it is estimated that unemployment will reach 10.5% share.

So, after the economic crisis that hit the whole world causing financial collapse and leading to high rates of unemployment and layoffs, especially in more developed countries, I feel I can say, with confidence and optimism that a recovery, although slow, is at upon  us.

  1. Rossana Spiller says:
